Arjen was a real descendent of coppersmiths. He had a shop in Workum which burned down in 1913. This perhaps was the reason for his emigration that same year to America.
Remarkable is the fact he returned several times to the Netherlands and lived in several places like Maassluis, Eindhoven, Heerlen Hoensbroek and also Workum. We are very curious to know why he was wandering around so much. Finally in 1927 he settled definite in the States and made for his family a flourishing business, the Árcher Tinning and Re-tinning Company.
