Greetings from New Zealand.
Catharina (Trijntje) Molenaar (1865-1950) (wife of Nicolaas Bijvoet), owned a necklace made of blood (or red) coral. On her death the stones of this necklace were believed to have been divided amongst various family members.
Some of these stones came into the possession of her daughter, Elizabeth Bijvoet (wife of Willem Zwart). Elizabeth had one stone set into a gold ring for herself (ring in the upper right hand corner). Remaining stones were in time passed on to her daughters, daughters in law, and even some granddaughters on their 21st birthdays. Each had their stone set into a gold ring. These rings are worn with great pride by all who have one, and are treasured family keepsakes to the memory of Catharina Molenaar.
